چکیده

Having in mind that physical systems have different levels of structure we develop the concept of external, internal and total improper Lorentz transformation (space inversion and time reversal). A particle obtained from the ordinary one by the application of internal space inversion or time reversal is generally a different particle. From this point of view the intrinsic parity of a nuclear particle (‘elementary particle’) is in fact the external intrinsic parity, if we take into account the internal structure of a particle. We show that non-conservation of the external parity does not necessarily imply non-invariance of nature under space inversion. The conventional theory of beta-decay can be corrected by including the internal degrees of freedom to become invariant under total space inversion, though not under the external one. Note: This old paper has recently been subjected to considerable interest due to the increasing exploration of the “exact parity model”, “mirror matter” and its possible manifestation in astrophysics. It is not available elsewhere on the Internet, and in the interests of easy access I am posting it on astro-ph. The body of the paper is identical to the published version, except for few minor correction of spelling. Preseent address: J. Effect of silhouetting and inversion on view invariance in the monkey inferotemporal cortex

We effortlessly recognize objects across changes in viewpoint, but we know relatively little about the features that underlie viewpoint invariance in the brain. Here, we set out to characterize how viewpoint invariance in monkey inferior temporal (IT) neurons is influenced by two image manipulations-silhouetting and inversion. Reducing an object into its silhouette removes internal detail, so t...

Velocity Inversion with an Iterative Normal Incidence Point (NIP) Wave Tomography with Model-Based Common Diffraction Surface (CDS) Stack

Normal Incidence Point (NIP) wave tomography inversion has been recently developed to generate a velocity model using Common Reflection Surface (CRS) attributes, which is called the kinematic wavefield attribute. In this paper, we propose to use the model based Common Diffraction Surface (CDS) stack method attributes instead of data driven Common Reflection Surface attributes as an input data p...

Adaptive attitude controller of a reentry vehicles based on Back-stepping Dynamic inversion method

This paper presents an attitude control algorithm for a Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV) with a low lift/drag ratio (L/D < 0.5), in the presence of external disturbances, model uncertainties, control output constraints and the thruster model. The main novelty of proposed control strategy is a new combination of the attitude control methods included backstepping, dynamic inversion and adaptive cont...

The time course of face matching by internal and external features: Effects of context and inversion

Effects of context and inversion were studied in face matching tasks by measuring proportion correct as a function of exposure duration. Subjects were instructed to attend either internal features (task A) or external features (task B) and matched two consecutive face stimuli, which included either congruent, incongruent, or no facial context features. In congruent contexts matching performance...

Vertical Structure and Double Diffusion Convection of the Water Column in the Southern Shores of the Caspian Sea

Background and Objectives: Different types of instability occur at sea. Layered structures are one of the most important physical phenomena in marine environments. Static stability and double diffusion are associated with density changes with respect to depth and temperature and salinity gradients, respectively. Due to the difference in temperature and salinity in the water column, marine areas...
